Artem Dovbyk: A Journey from Cherkasy to International Stardom

Early Life and Football Beginnings

Artem Dovbyk, a Ukrainian striker currently playing for FC Dnipro-1 and the Ukrainian national team, was born on June 21, 1997, in Cherkasy, Ukraine. His football journey began at a young age, playing for his school team and participating in the "Leather Ball" tournament.

He later joined the local SDYUSSHOR sports school, where he was mentored by Alexei Yakovlevich Blokha and Sergei Ivanovich Sergienko. As a member of his sports school team, he competed in the Ukrainian Youth Football League.

Professional Career

Cherkasky Dnipro (2014-2015)

In 2014, Dovbyk signed a contract with Cherkasky Dnipro, who played in the Ukrainian Second League. He made his professional debut on July 26, 2014, in a match against FC Skala Stryi. His first professional goal came on August 16th against FC Krystal Kherson, making him the youngest goal scorer in the history of Cherkasy.

Dnipro (2015-2017)

In the summer of 2015, Dovbyk joined FC Dnipro on a one-year contract. However, he primarily played for the youth team, making only one appearance for the first team in the Ukrainian Cup. Seeking more playing time, he was loaned to Moldovan club FC Zarya in the spring of 2016.

Return to Dnipro and Breakthrough (2016-2017)

After his loan ended, Dovbyk returned to Dnipro and signed a new contract. He made his Ukrainian Premier League debut on August 13, 2016, against FC Vorskla Poltava. Dovbyk became one of the standout players and the best young player in the UPL during the 2016/17 season.

Departure and Return to Dnipro (2017-2018)

Despite his impressive performances, Dnipro faced severe financial difficulties and was relegated to the Second League. Dovbyk left the club but returned after a month. He became Dnipro's top scorer in the first half of the season before leaving again on December 5, 2017.

FC Midtjylland (2018)

On January 31, 2018, Dovbyk signed with Danish club FC Midtjylland. He played 10 matches and scored once, helping the team win the Danish Superliga championship.

International Career

Youth Teams
Dovbyk played two matches for the Ukrainian U-18 team in 2015.
Senior Team

In May 2015, he received his first call-up to the senior national team but did not make an appearance. He finally debuted on March 31, 2021, against Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier.

Dovbyk was included in Ukraine's squad for UEFA Euro 2020 and scored a crucial goal in the Round of 16 against Sweden, helping his team reach the quarter-finals for the first time.
