Arthur Aghajanyan: Armenian Patriot and International Figure

Arthur Aghajanyan is a prominent Armenian public figure, sociologist, and political scientist. He holds a PhD in Sociology.

Military Service

Aghajanyan served in the Soviet Army from 1975 to 1979 and was a veteran of the Afghan War. After graduating from Kazan State University in 1984, he worked as an engineer-sociologist at the Armenian Aviation Complex Production Association (PO). Within three months, he was promoted to Head of the Personnel and Security Department, becoming Deputy Director of Personnel and Security for the "Microprocessor" plant.

Political Activism

In 1986, Aghajanyan was elected Chairman of the Trade Union Organization of the Armenian PO Aviation Complex and became a member of the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Workers in the Aviation Industry of the USSR.

Role in the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict

From 1989, Aghajanyan actively participated in the establishment of volunteer detachments in Yerkrapah and self-defense units in regions bordering Azerbaijan. He fought in Nagorno-Karabakh, commanding a special platoon in the "Artsvik" suicide battalion. Later, he became commander of the "Artsvik"-5 special forces (suicide) battalion.

Senior Military Positions

In 1992, Aghajanyan commanded the southern flank of the Lachin humanitarian corridor. In 1993, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the 5th Motor Rifle Contract Brigade of the RA Ministry of Defense (MOD).

In May 1993, Aghajanyan was transferred to the newly established Military Policy Department of the MOD and sent on a mission to the North Caucasus by order of the Armenian Defense Minister Vazgen Manukian. After the Military Policy Department was disbanded, he became a senior officer in the MOD's Personnel Affairs Department.

Academic and Diplomatic Career

In 1994, Aghajanyan was appointed Deputy Commander and subsequently Commander of the Air Defense Brigade. In 1997, he became Head of the Personnel Work Cycle at the Academy Courses for Senior Officers of the Armenian MOD.

In 2006, he taught at the Royal Military College (KMK) in Sweden and was elected President of the international organization "Kristna mot terrorism" (Christians Against Terrorism) in Sweden.

In 2007, Aghajanyan founded the International News Agency "ArmNews.Eu" in Brussels, Belgium, and established the International Information and Analytical Center "View from Europe" in Stockholm, Sweden.

Other Activities

Aghajanyan is the Chairman of the "Sparapeti Koch" suicide bombers' association. He is a member of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the Union of Journalists of Sweden (2008), and the Union of Journalists of Hungary (2007).
