From the mid-1990s onward, Sergeycev played a significant role in numerous electoral campaigns. His clients included Viktor Pinchuk, Leonid Kuchma, Nikolai Ganz, and Sergei Kas'yanov. In 2004, he advised Viktor Yanukovych, devising the controversial "three-sorts of Ukraine" strategy.
