John Keats
John Keats was a British figure skater who competed in single skating and pair skating.
Early Life and Single Skating Career
Keats was born in England and began skating at a young age. He quickly rose through the ranks and became one of Britain's top single skaters. In 1908, he represented Great Britain at the Summer Olympics in London, where he won the silver medal in the special figures competition. This was the only time that special figures was included in the Olympic program.
Keats went on to win two British National Championships in single skating, in 1912 and 1914.
Pair Skating with Mrs. Arthur Cadogan
In addition to his single skating career, Keats also competed in pair skating with Mrs. Arthur Cadogan. Together, they finished seventh at the World Championships in 1912 and 1913.
Tragic Death
Keats' promising career was cut short when he died in a motorcycle accident in London in 1920. He was only 25 years old.
