Biography of Jamie Sale
Jamie Sale is a former Canadian figure skater who competed in pairs skating with David Pelletier. She was born on April 21, 1977, in Calgary, Canada. Sale began figure skating at the age of three and initially competed as a singles skater. She won a bronze medal at the Junior Canadian Championships and later became a bronze medalist in pairs skating with Jason Turner in 1994.

In 1994, Sale and Turner qualified for the Olympic team and finished in 11th place at the Winter Olympic Games. They also placed 16th at the World Championships that same year. However, their partnership ended in August due to personal reasons. Sale returned to singles skating and placed fifth at the National Championships in 1995.
In 1996, Sale briefly tried skating with David Pelletier, but their partnership did not progress. She continued as a singles skater for the 1996-1997 season but did not achieve significant success. Sale then decided to give pairs skating another try and was suggested as a potential partner for Pelletier by their coach, Richard Gauthier.
Sale and Pelletier officially teamed up in 1998 and quickly found success. They placed second at Skate Canada and won a bronze medal at the NHK Trophy. They were invited to compete in the Canadian Championships, where they finished second. Despite a back injury to Pelletier, they were able to compete at the Four Continents Championships and the World Championships in 1999, although they had to withdraw due to Pelletier's injury.
In the 1999-2000 season, Sale and Pelletier introduced their iconic free skate program set to the music from the movie "Love Story." They had a breakthrough year, winning their first Grand Prix event at Skate America and capturing the gold medal at the Four Continents Championships. At the World Championships, they finished fourth due to mistakes in both the short program and free skate.
The following season, Sale and Pelletier continued to achieve success, winning events like Skate America, Skate Canada, and the Grand Prix Final. They competed at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 and controversially placed second after a judging scandal. The scandal led to a change in the scoring system of figure skating. Eventually, Sale and Pelletier were awarded the gold medal as well, making them Olympic champions.
Off the ice, Sale and Pelletier got married on December 30, 2005, and welcomed their son in 2007. However, they filed for divorce in 2010. Since retiring from competitive skating, Sale and Pelletier have continued to perform together in professional shows, including the American ice show "Stars on Ice."
