Early Life and Education
Hovhanes Hovhannisyanwas born into the family of Yuri Dzhavadyants. His educational background began at Yerevan School No. 30 named after Chkalov (1971-1981). Subsequently, he pursued a degree in mechanization at the Armenian Agricultural Institute (1981-1986), graduating as a mechanical engineer.
Academic and Professional Pursuits
Hovhannisyan continued his academic endeavors by enrolling in an aspirant program at the Armenian Agricultural Institute (1986-1989). During this period, he concurrently held a position as an engineer at "Armglavvodstroy" (1987-1989).
Banking Career
In 1989, Hovhannisyan embarked on his banking career at "Yerevan" Bank, where he held various roles, including expert, deputy head of department, and department head. His banking experience continued at "Arminvestbank," where he served as Chairman of the Board from 1991 to 1997.
Central Bank and International Engagements
Hovhannisyan's tenure at the Central Bank of Armenia began in 1997 as a member of its board. He transitioned to the role of Armenian director at the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, where he also chaired the Audit Committee (1998-2008).
Within the Central Bank, Hovhannisyan assumed the role of advisor to the Chairman of the Board for financial monitoring (1999-2000), advisor to the Chairman (2000-2001), and member of the Board (2001-2003). He was then appointed Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank (2003-2008) before becoming its Chairman in June 2008.
