Maria Asuncion Aramburuzabala: Mexican Entrepreneur

Maria Asuncion Aramburuzabala is a Mexican entrepreneur and the chairman of Tresalia Capital. She was born in Mexico City, Mexico. Her grandfather, Felix Aramburuzabala, co-founded Grupo Modelo, a brewing company, with his friend Pablo Diez Fernandez. Maria's father, Pablo Aramburuzabala, held the position of executive vice president in the same company.

Education and Personal Life

Maria received her education at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM), specializing in accounting. In 1982, she married Paulo Patricio Zapata Navarro, and the couple had two children before their divorce in 1997. On February 26, 2005, Maria married Tony Garza, the American ambassador to Mexico. However, this marriage also ended in divorce in May 2010.

Inheriting Grupo Modelo

After the death of her father in 1995, several groups fought over his inheritance. Maria and her two daughters had to join forces to protect their assets. They established Tresalia Capital, a company that made significant investments in major Mexican firms and launched several venture capital funds. Tresalia Capital also sponsored talented young entrepreneurs.

Diversifying Investments

Over the years, Tresalia Capital expanded its focus beyond the brewing industry. Apart from her business ventures, Maria is also actively involved in educational projects. She serves on the board of trustees of the business school at ITAM, her alma mater. Additionally, she participates in advisory councils for the Mexican Ministry of Education and Ministry of Trade.
