Early Life and Education
Arshak Poladyan, an Armenian diplomat and academic, was born in Yerevan, Armenia. In 1974, he enrolled in Yerevan State University, where he earned a degree in history and later obtained his doctorate in historical sciences.
Academic Career
From 1979 to 1983, Poladyan served as an assistant to the rector of Yerevan State University. Between 1983 and 1986, he held the position of secretary of the University's Komsomol (Communist Youth League) Committee.
Subsequently, from 1986 to 1987, Poladyan lectured at Yerevan State University. In 1987, he became a visiting scholar at the IREX Foundation in the United States, where he taught for six years.
After returning to Armenia, Poladyan continued his academic pursuits, teaching at the University of California and Yerevan University named after Grachya Achayran.
Political Career
From 1999 to 2003, Poladyan served as a member of the Armenian Parliament, where he was a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.
Diplomatic Service
In 2001, Poladyan became a member of the Armenian delegation to the Council of Europe. From 2003 to 2005, he was an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and represented the country in the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO).
In 2005, Poladyan was appointed as Ambassador of Armenia to Poland, serving in this capacity until 2006.
Ambassadorial Appointments
Ambassador to Poland (2006-2014)From April 2006 to January 2014, Poladyan served as Ambassador of Armenia to Poland. Additionally, he held the兼任 position of Ambassador to Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia from April 2006 to January 2012.
Ambassador to Brazil (2014-Present)
Since January 2014, Poladyan has represented Armenia as Ambassador to Brazil.
Legacy
Throughout his career, Poladyan has authored numerous scientific articles and has received accolades for his diplomatic service. He is a respected figure in both the academic and diplomatic communities.
