Akylai Sarybaeva: Kyrgyz Jurist and Stateswoman
Akylai Sarybaeva is a prominent Kyrgyz jurist and stateswoman who has held key positions in the country's legal and governmental systems.
Early Life and Education
Akylai Sarybaeva was born on May 7, 1974, in Kara-Balta, Kyrgyzstan. In 1996, she graduated from the Kyrgyz State National University with a degree in law.
Career in Law and Government
Sarybaeva began her legal career in 1998 as a public assistant to a deputy in the Kyrgyz Parliament. She then worked as a leading specialist in the legal department of the Bishkek City Mayor's Office (1998-2000) and as a lawyer for the Swiss Cooperation Association Helvetas (2000).
From 2001 onwards, Sarybaeva held various positions in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, including as head of the legal department and deputy head of the personnel and legal support department. She also served as an expert and deputy head in the Legal Department of the Prime Minister's Office (2007-2010).
Government Service and Ministerial Post
In 2010, Sarybaeva was appointed as an expert in the legal support department of the Government of Kyrgyzstan. She held this position until 2015, when she became a chief expert in the legal expertise and support department. From 2017 to 2019, she was deputy head of the legal expertise department in the Government Apparatus.
In 2019, Sarybaeva was appointed as head of the legal expertise department in the Government Apparatus, a position she held until February 2021. On February 3, 2021, she was appointed Minister of Justice in the government led by Prime Minister Ulukbek Maripov.
Resignation and Current Status
On October 12, 2021, President Sadyr Japarov dismissed the Maripov government, including Sarybaeva as Minister of Justice. Since then, she has remained active in the legal and political landscape of Kyrgyzstan.
Recognition and Honors
Akylai Sarybaeva holds the civil service rank of "State Counselor" 2nd class.
