Childhood and Education
Petr Dmitrievich Katsyv was born in 1953 in Slavuta, Ukraine, into a typical Soviet family. From a young age, he expressed a passion for transportation and road construction, which influenced his decision to pursue higher education at the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction Institute.
Academic Achievements
After obtaining his degree, Katsyv continued his academic pursuits by completing postgraduate studies and successfully defending his doctoral dissertation. His research and scientific contributions have played a significant role in numerous strategic initiatives for developing Russia's transportation system.
Career Journey
Alongside his scientific endeavors, Katsyv has maintained an active public life. His career began as an engineer at an auto enterprise in Khimki, and he gradually rose through the ranks to become the head of a major transportation company in the Moscow region.
Government Service
From 2001 to 2012, Katsyv served in the Moscow Oblast Government under Governor Boris Gromov, overseeing the regional Ministry of Transport. In 2012, he was appointed as the Head of the Moscow Oblast Department for Relations with State Authorities under Governor Sergei Shoigu.
Transition to Russian Railways
In 2014, Katsyv joined Russian Railways (RZD) as one of its Vice Presidents and became the Head of the Center for the Development of the Moscow Transport Hub.
Recognition and Honors
Throughout his distinguished career, Katsyv has received numerous государственные награды (state awards), including the prestigious Order of Merit for the Fatherland, Third Class.
