Clement Daniel Maxime Penhoat, known professionally as Atik, was born on November 26, 1992, in Chevreuse, France. His father was of Breton descent, while his mother's ancestors hailed from French Guiana. Penhoat has two younger brothers and has described his family as "music lovers and workers."
After obtaining a degree in sociology, Penhoat began writing rap songs as a teenager. He worked odd jobs for over a decade to pursue his musical aspirations.
Musical Career
Debut and Rise to FameIn 2014, Atik released his debut mixtape, "Amérique-2." He addressed themes such as the harsh realities of French working-class neighborhoods, youth crime, and human trafficking. Collaborations with other French and Italian rappers gained him recognition. Hit tracks like "Juvenile Prison" and "Angela" cemented his status as an underground star.
Folding Chair and Film Debut
In 2018, Atik founded Folding Chair, a creative collective. He performed freestyles while sitting on a folding chair and became known for using a vape during performances. Two albums from this era showcased his unique style and storytelling.
Atik made his acting debut in the 2020 TV series "Jusqu'ici tout va bien." He played the role of a rapper named Apash and performed his own songs in the show.
