Audry Bono: A Rising Star in French Politics

Early Life and Education

Audry Bono was born on August 3, 1962, in Soissons, France. She studied at the École Polytechnique Fédérale (EPF) in Sceaux, earning a degree in engineering and a doctorate in fluid and gas mechanics.

Academic and Municipal Career

Bono worked as a research lecturer in fluid mechanics analysis at her alma mater, as well as at the École Centrale Paris and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Picardy. In 2008, she was elected to the municipal council of Laon, serving as deputy mayor.

Entry into National Politics

In 2012, Bono ran for the National Assembly in the 1st constituency of Aisne as a candidate for the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP). She reached the second round, but lost to the incumbent René Dosière.

Leadership in the Aisne Department

In 2013, Bono became the leader of the UDI in Aisne. In 2014, she was re-elected to the Laon municipal council and became first deputy mayor. However, she resigned from this post in 2014 due to disagreements with the mayor.

Independent Candidacy and Election to the National Assembly

In 2017, Bono was nominated by the UDI to run for the National Assembly. However, she was excluded from the party when the right-wing parties formed a pre-election alliance. Bono decided to run independently and received the endorsement of Emmanuel Macron. She won the election in the second round, defeating the National Front candidate.

Parliamentary Roles

In the National Assembly, Bono serves on the European Affairs Committee and the National Defense and Armed Forces Committee. She is also a member of the French delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Current Positions

Member of the Council of the City of Laon (2008-2020)
Deputy Mayor of Laon (2008-2014)
Member of the National Assembly (since 2017)
