Biography of Azita Ghanizada
Early Life and Immigration to the USAzita Ghanizada is an American actress of Afghan descent. She was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and later immigrated to the United States with her family. Ghanizada grew up in Northern Virginia, in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. Her family moved to the US due to the complex political situation in Afghanistan at the time. Azita is the middle of three sisters.
Education and Career Beginnings
After moving to Los Angeles, Ghanizada realized her passion for acting and decided to pursue it as a career. Before that, she worked in a high school on Capitol Hill, where she was equally drawn to politics and international journalism. However, her move to Los Angeles made her realize that acting was her true calling.
Television and Film Career
Ghanizada began her acting career by playing the lead role in the first season of the Style Network project "A Modern Girl's Guide to Life". She gained recognition for her portrayal of Chiara in Laura Neri's film "A Kiss on the Nose", for which she received an award at a film festival for Best Actress.
Ghanizada has appeared in several popular television shows, including "How I Met Your Mother", "Entourage", "The Wedding Bells", "Veronica Mars", "NUMB3RS", "Bones", and "Psych". She has also had supporting roles in films such as the sci-fi action film "Blood Shot" and the comedies "You, Only Better" and "X's and O's".
Since 2008, Ghanizada has been a part of the spin-off series "General Hospital: Night Shift", where she plays the role of Dr. Saira Batra, a general medicine specialist. In 2009, she portrayed Kelly, a Prada store employee, in an episode of the HBO series "Entourage".
