Biography of B.J. Novak

B.J. Novak, whose real name is Benjamin Joseph Manaly Novak, was born in 1979 into a creative family. His father, William Novak, is the co-author of "The Big Book of Jewish Humor." His younger brothers, Jess and Lev, are also involved in the arts, with Jess writing electronic music and Lev being a talented rapper. Novak grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, where he also attended high school.

Novak's talents began to shine during his time at Harvard University, where he became a notable student. He participated in student productions and served as both an author and inspiration for many of them. His major in English and Spanish literature allowed him to also write for various publications.

After graduating from university in 2001, Novak moved to Los Angeles and started working as a stand-up comedian in clubs, honing his skills in the genre. He quickly became a key figure at "The Improv" club and in 2003, he was listed as one of the top ten most interesting artists in the stand-up genre by "Variety's" magazine.

Novak's television career began with his appearance on MTV's show "Punk'd," where he became a co-host alongside Ashton Kutcher. He gained fame for his sharp jokes targeting Hilary Duff and Usher. During one of his performances, Novak caught the attention of producer Greg Daniels, who immediately invited the young comedian to join his project, "The Office," to play the role of Ryan Howard. Novak's writing talents also found expression in this show, as he became the author of several episodes and contributed jokes that became the sitcom's signature.

In 2007, Novak appeared as a young doctor in the film "Knocked Up" and also starred in "Reign Over Me." In 2009, he acted in Quentin Tarantino's highly acclaimed film "Inglourious Basterds," alongside Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, and Mike Myers. Novak's role as one of the desperate avengers in this film opened up new horizons in his acting career. The movie, which tells the story of Jewish soldiers seeking revenge in occupied France, was a departure from Novak's previous roles. The film premiered in May 2009, and it was released in Russia in August of the same year.
