Early Life and Tragedy
Aziz Azimova, a renowned Tajik Soviet ballerina, actress, and choreographer, was born into poverty in the village of Surkhi, Tajikistan, in 1915. Her mother passed away when Aziz was only two years old, and she moved with her father to the village of Bogoutdin.
Forced Labor and Redemption
Extreme poverty forced Aziz's father to sell her for 75 rubles to a hatmaker in Bukhara. For eight years, she endured life as a "churi" in the hatmaker's household.
Education and Aspiration
In 1923, the Bukhara People's Education Department sent Aziz to Moscow for education. During her time there, she discovered her passion for acting.
Theatrical Debut and Recognition
Upon her return to Bukhara, Aziz enrolled in a women's pedagogical technical school and joined a theatrical studio. In 1930, she became a member of a traveling workers' theater in Tashkent. She made her debut as a dramatic actress at the Stalinabad Musical and Drama Theater.
Ballet Soloist and Party Affiliation
In 1937, Aziz joined the ballet company of the Tajik Musical Theater as a soloist. She became a member of the Communist Party in 1941.
Choreographic Achievements
In 1950, Aziz graduated from the GITIS choreography department. Her subsequent productions at the Aini Theater included the ballets "Red Flower" (1951) and "Doctor Aibolit" (1952).
