Born in the autonomous republic of Abkhazia, Baadur Jobava's journey into the world of chess began at the tender age of four, sparked by his father's introduction.
Early Life
Jobava's childhood was shaped by the outbreak of the Georgian-Abkhazian war, forcing his family to relocate to Kharkiv, Ukraine. Despite the turmoil, his passion for chess remained undeterred.
Chess Achievements
In 2001, Jobava earned the prestigious title of Grandmaster. He has twice triumphed as the Georgian Chess Champion, in 2003 and 2007.
Jobava's exceptional talent has been showcased at five Chess Olympiads, spanning from 2000 to 2008. At the XXXVI Olympiad in Calvia, he emerged as the individual gold medalist.
Family Connection
Baadur's brother, Beglaar, has followed in his footsteps as a chess player, attaining the title of International Master.
