Early Life and Education

Giorgi (Gigi) Aleksidze was born on March 5, 1935, in Batumi, Georgia. He enrolled in the prestigious VGIK (All-Union State Institute of Cinematography) in 1961, where he studied directing under the tutelage of renowned filmmakers Alexander Dovzhenko and Mikhail Chiaureli.

Career in Film and Television

After graduating from VGIK, Aleksidze joined the "Gruzia-film" studio as an actor and director. He also lent his voice as a dubbing director and actively participated in the film industry. He became the President of the Guild of Film Actors of Georgia and a member of the board of the Union of Filmmakers of Georgia.

Aleksidze expanded his career into television, hosting a popular cooking show on Georgian TV. He also shared his knowledge and experience as a professor of acting at the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Theater and Cinema.

Awards and Recognition

In 1979, Aleksidze was honored with the title of Merited Artist of the Georgian SSR for his significant contributions to the film industry. His work has garnered widespread recognition and critical acclaim, establishing him as one of the most respected actors and directors in Georgian cinema.
