Early Life and Education
Born on June 28, 1971, in Odessa, Ukraine, Sergey Denga is a fourth-generation Odessa native. Despite his diverse ancestry, including Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, German, and French heritage, Denga's father, Yuriy Mykhailovych Denga, is an ecologist and member of the International Academy of Environmental Sciences. Denga's grandfather, Mykhailo Fedorovich, declined the position of Minister of Metallurgy to remain in Odessa.
Inspired by a film featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme performing a split between two chairs, Denga developed a passion for acting in his youth. However, at his father's behest, he pursued a degree in Organic Synthesis Technology from the Polytechnic University. Nonetheless, Denga's interest in the performing arts continued, leading him to attend the comedy troupe "Maski" before enrolling in courses at the "Success" agency on the Odessa Film Studio.
Acting Career
Denga's screen debut came in the mid-2000s with minor roles in Russian films and series. In 2011, he portrayed Captain Studzynski in the adventure-melodrama "The Life and Adventures of Mishka Yaponchik." The following year, he starred as his full namesake in the melodrama "Tea with Bergamot," also serving as the film's screenwriter and director.
Denga's breakthrough role came in season two of the series "By the Laws of War," where he played Igor Vyacheslavovich Uvarov. He has since appeared in various notable productions, including Nikita Mikhalkov's "Sunstroke" and Vladimir Zelensky's comedy series "Servant of the People." Denga has also portrayed memorable characters in the "Mentovskie Voyny" franchise, including the killer Larik and the security service chief Felix Lozinsky.
Personal Life
Denga is an avid cyclist and enjoys driving. He is known for his love of Viktor Tsoi's music and prefers spending time near water, as evidenced by his Instagram account. The actor is regularly accompanied by his beloved wife in interviews, who playfully reminds him that he is not a millionaire as his surname is not "Den'gi" (money).
Recent Works
In 2021, Denga starred as Senior Investigator Pyotr Kukushkin in the detective series "Shusha." He has also appeared in the sports crime drama "Nezakrytaya Mishen'," the comedy series "Papik" season two, and the melodrama "Rebenok s Garantiey." Additionally, Denga portrayed Gennady Klimchuk in the mystical detective series "Theory of Evil" and played a German officer in the Israeli historical documentary "Berenshtein."
