Biography of Baba Annanov

Soviet and Russian bass guitarist, author of stories, short stories, and screenplays. During his lifetime, only one collection of prose, "Kyarizniki," was published. Baba Annanov was born on February 20, 1934, in the village of Karadamak (now a settlement within Ashgabat, Turkmenistan) (according to other sources, in Ashgabat). His father died on the front during the war, and his mother died during the earthquake in Ashgabat on October 6, 1948. He worked as a collective farmer and prepared to become a lawyer after finishing school. In 1959, he graduated from the A.N. Ostrovsky Tashkent Theater and Art Institute (now the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan).
Early Career

After completing the institute, Baba Annanov worked for some time at the Chardzhou Drama Theater and as an assistant director at Turkmenistan Television. He began acting in films in 1957 at the Turkmenfilm studio and others.
Television and Theater Work

Starting in 1961, Baba Annanov became a director at the Ashgabat Television Studio. Towards the end of his life, he worked as the director of the Mollanepes Turkmen Drama Theater (now the Mollanepes Student Theater) in Ashgabat.
Authorship

Baba Annanov was also an author of stories, short stories, and screenplays. During his lifetime, only one collection of prose, "Kyarizniki," was published. He adapted his story "Ak At" ("White Horse") into a play about the fate of a mother and son who experienced a long separation. His story "Kyarizgeny" served as the basis for the film "Doves Live in Kyariz." His son, Kerim Annanov, directed a short film based on his story "She-Wolf," which received several awards at film festivals.
Death and Family

Baba Annanov passed away on December 27, 1991 (according to other sources, on December 21) in Ashgabat. He had a son named Kerim Annanov (born on September 28, 1958), who is an actor, film director, and screenwriter, currently serving as the CEO of "Turan-Film." He also had a daughter named Bahar Allakova.
