Early Life and Career
After joining the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Bai Ling spent three years entertaining soldiers stationed in Tibet. She then became a performer in a local theater in Beijing. It was during this time that she gained recognition for her memorable role as a mentally ill young woman in the drama "Arc Light" in her home country of China.
Moving to the United States
Bai Ling moved to the United States to pursue her education and enrolled in the film school at New York University. In 1991, she immigrated to New York City and soon found work in Hollywood. Her first English-speaking role was as a villainous character in the film "The Crow" (1994).
