Former German athlete, transgenderBorn in 1980 in Ulm, Germany, Yvonne Buschbaum began her remarkable sports career at the age of 18 after completing basic army training. Her main discipline became pole vaulting, and from 1998 to 2007, Buschbaum achieved considerable success in championships at various levels, including world and European championships, as well as the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
Buschbaum's personal record in pole vaulting is a height of 4.70 meters, which she achieved in June 2003 in her hometown of Ulm. However, numerous injuries and a desire for change led her to announce her departure from professional sports in November 2007.

In a sensational revelation, Buschbaum openly declared herself to be a transgender woman and made the decision to transition.
