Childhood and Early Life
Barbara Pravi was born in Paris in the spring of 1993 to a family immersed in the arts. Her Iranian mother instilled in her a striking appearance and curly locks, while her educated father nurtured her passion for the arts.
Music Career
Barbara's musical journey began in the mid-2010s when she collaborated with French musician Jules Jaconelli. In 2015, she signed with Capitol Music France and recorded the soundtrack for the French version of the Swiss film "Heidi." The following year, she debuted as a solo artist with the single "Pas grandir."
After garnering attention, Barbara solidified her solo career with her self-titled debut EP in 2018. She also joined Florente Pagny's 55 Tour as a supporting act. Inspired by Pagny's success, she explored chanson music. In 2019, she co-wrote the hit song "Bim bam toi," which became a viral sensation and earned a spot in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Personal Life and Feminism
Beyond her music, Barbara is an advocate for women's rights. She has shared her experiences with violence in the past and is an active member of the national feminist movement.
Eurovision and Current Success
In 2020, Barbara was selected to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest with her original composition "Voilà." She triumphed in the national competition and went on to finish 2nd in Rotterdam.
In 2021, Barbara released her second EP, "Les prières." She continues to showcase her talent through her mesmerizing live performances and thought-provoking music.
