Barry Gordon: An American Actor of Stage, Screen, and Voice

Early Life and Career on Broadway

Barry Gordon, born with a passion for acting, began his career at the tender age of three. His breakout role came in 1962 at age 13 when he played the twelve-year-old Nick in the Broadway production of Herb Gardner's "A Thousand Clowns." The success continued in 1965 with the film adaptation of the play, starring alongside Jason Robards.

Television and Film Success

In the final two seasons of the sitcom "Archie Bunker's Place" (1979-1983), Gordon took on the role of Gary Rabinowitz, a Jewish accountant. He also made noteworthy appearances in episodes of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and "Star Trek: Voyager."

Voice Acting Legacy

Gordon's voice acting career is equally impressive. He voiced characters in numerous animated series, including "Jabberjaw," "The Kid Superpower Hour with Shazam!," "Mighty Orbots," "The Snorks," and "Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron." Notably, he provided the voice of Quik Bunny in "Nestlé" commercials.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Icon

However, Gordon's most iconic role remains that of Donatello in the animated series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (1987-1996). His versatility extended to voicing Bebop and several minor characters.

Later Career and Recognition

In the 2001 television special "I Love 1980's," Gordon embraced the "Donatello" nickname (alongside Rob Paulsen and Townsend Coleman, who represented Raphael and Michelangelo, respectively).

Currently, Barry Gordon hosts the weekly radio show "Barry Gordon From Left Field" on KCAA in California.
