Her mother, Sharon Lyn (Chalken), is a costume designer, and her father, Richard Feldstein, was a long-time tour manager for the rock band Guns N' Roses. Beanie is the younger sister of actor Jonah Hill, who has received two Academy Award nominations for his supporting roles in "Moneyball" and "The Wolf of Wall Street." She also had another brother, Jordan Feldstein, who passed away suddenly in 2017 at the age of 40 from a pulmonary embolism.

Feldstein's first acting experience came at the age of 9, when she appeared in a minor role in the sitcom "My Wife and Kids." The producers gave her character the nickname Beanie, which she has used as her stage name ever since.
