Early Life and FamilyBeatrice of Luxembourg was born into a royal family as the youngest daughter of Emperor Henry VII and Margaret of Brabant. She had an elder brother, John, and a sister, Mary, who became Queen of France.
Marriage to King Charles Robert
On June 24, 1318, the 13-year-old Beatrice married King Charles Robert of Hungary, Croatia, and Dalmatia. Charles Robert was a widower, having lost his first wife, Maria of Bytom, in 1317.
Birth and Death of Daughter
Beatrice gave birth to a daughter, also named Beatrice, on October 11, 1319. However, the infant died within hours of her birth. Tragically, Beatrice herself succumbed to complications arising from the childbirth on November 11, 1319, at the young age of 14.
Burial and Legacy
Queen Beatrice of Luxembourg was laid to rest in the cathedral of Varaždin, Croatia. Her untimely death left King Charles Robert without a male heir. A year after Beatrice's passing, he married Elizabeth of Poland.
