Biography of Beatrix Potter
Beatrix Potter was an English children's writer and artist. She was born in the town of South Kensington, now a suburb of London, into a family of industrialists. She received a home education.
Early Career
In 1900, Potter published her first work, "The Tale of Peter Rabbit," in a small print run. In 1902, this tale was republished, and it was followed by two dozen more stories, including "The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin," "The Tale of Benjamin Bunny," "The Tailor of Gloucester," and others.
Life at Hill Top
Potter spent most of her life in Hill Top, a country estate in the Lake District in Northern England. Today, this estate is a museum dedicated to Beatrix Potter.
