Biography of Kim Jong-un
Kim Jong-un, also known as Kim Jong-woon or Kim Jong Eun, is a prominent international politician and the leader of North Korea. He was born on January 8, 1982, in Pyongyang, North Korea. Kim Jong-un is the son of Kim Jong-il, the former leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Ko Yong-hui, a Japanese-born dancer who passed away in 2004.
During his youth, Kim Jong-un attended the International School of Berne in Switzerland, where he developed a passion for basketball. He was rarely seen at school and often dined at restaurants accompanied by Ri Chol, the North Korean ambassador to Switzerland, who was responsible for managing Kim Jong-il's secret treasury.
Upon returning to North Korea at the age of 20, Kim Jong-un's life remained secretive, with no official photographs or reliable information about his government positions. Despite his young age, Kim Jong-un was considered a favorite by some experts due to his intellect and his mother's efforts to secure his position as the successor to his father's leadership.
In 2009, rumors circulated about Kim Jong-il's declining health and potential successors. On January 15, 2009, it was announced by South Korean news agency "Renhap" that Kim Jong-il had appointed Kim Jong-un as his successor, surprising even the leaders of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kim Jong-un was expected to be advised by Chang Sung-taek, his uncle through marriage, who was believed to have effectively led North Korea during Kim Jong-il's illness.
In September 2010, a large party conference was held in North Korea, where Kim Jong-un was officially appointed a general and assumed positions within the Workers' Party of Korea. It was reported that Kim Jong-un suffered from excess weight, diabetes, and high blood pressure, closely resembling his father's appearance.
Kim Jong-un is also known to have a child, born in the fall of 2010 or winter of 2010-2011. According to some reports, it was Kim Jong-il who insisted on Kim Jong-un having a child.
