Bexsultan Kulibaev: Chess Player, Volunteer, and Advocate

Early Life and Chess Journey

Bexsultan Kulibaev was born on February 11, 1991, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Despite his initial interest in sports like athletics, football, and basketball, it was not until the age of 13 that he discovered his passion for chess. Inspired by his father, who played his first game with him, Kulibaev pursued his interest diligently.

Due to the lack of a chess club at his school, Kulibaev travelled to another part of the city to train with stronger opponents. This hindered his initial progress and prevented him from achieving significant accolades in youth competitions. Nevertheless, he remained dedicated, aspiring to one day compete in the national championship.

Education and Career

Kulibaev earned a law degree and currently specializes in civil law. In 2021, he began pursuing a second degree in economics. He started his career as an assistant documentalist while simultaneously balancing his studies and chess practice.

Driven by discipline, perseverance, and quick thinking cultivated through chess, Kulibaev secured a legal position with a foreign company in Almaty upon graduating from university.

Volunteerism and Community Involvement

As a dedicated volunteer, Kulibaev supports animal shelters and participates in search and rescue missions for missing persons. He prefers to remain anonymous in his charitable endeavors, believing it is a basic responsibility of every conscientious citizen.

Kulibaev is also passionate about promoting chess. He supports youth clubs and helps students secure funding for international tournaments. He has participated in numerous tournaments within Kazakhstan and abroad, earning accolades as a winner and medalist in amateur competitions.
