Origins and Establishment
Founded in 1995 by Stepa Arutyunyan and Stanislav Marchenko, Studio "Belomorkanal" originated in Orenburg, Russia. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology sourced from the US and Germany, the studio has continuously upgraded its facilities. Marchenko heads the engineering and technical operations, while Mikhail Pavlov spearheads the musical direction, assisted by previous collaborators Vladimir Nelyubin and Valery Lizner.
First Album and Expansion
The studio's debut project, "Kozirnye Tuz" by the Belomorkanal band, was recorded in 1995. The initial team included Arutyunyan, Lizner, Marchenko, and the late Yuri Fisun. Initially operating from a basement, the studio later moved to a shed adorned with an air conditioner and a plush couch. Today, it resides in a spacious, two-story mansion on the outskirts of Orenburg, providing an ideal creative environment.
Collaboration and Diversification
Studio Belomorkanal has facilitated collaboration among countless musicians and artists, offering support to emerging talents. It also provides technical expertise, equipping entertainment venues with music and lighting systems. Within the studio's creative team, over ten skilled DJs contribute their talents. The studio has also formed an artistic agency representing diverse musical acts that have gained prominence beyond the Orenburg region.
Artistic Excellence and Longevity
Through continuous innovation and dedication, Studio Belomorkanal has achieved significant milestones. All projects have been successfully completed without interruption, highlighting the unwavering commitment of its team. Notable achievements include producing two renowned producers, Stepa Arutyunyan and Yuri Almazov, both praised for their genre-bending creativity. Despite previous differences, Arutyunyan and Almazov have reunited to continue their collaborations.
Artistic Freedom and Criticisms
Despite occasional criticisms, Studio Belomorkanal remains steadfast in its pursuit of artistic expression. Creative limits are dismissed in favor of audience appeal. The success of albums and concerts is viewed as the ultimate arbiter of popularity, not the opinions of critics or disgruntled peers. The true measure of success lies in demand, which has been evident throughout the studio's ten-year history.
Partnership with Monolit
A pivotal moment for Studio Belomorkanal was the exclusive partnership agreement signed in 2005 with the record label Monolit. This collaboration ensured the release of all future Belomorkanal projects through this industry-leading label.
Gratitude and Future Plans
A special note of gratitude is extended to web administrator and webmaster Evgeny Yakubenko for his expertise and dedication in creating and maintaining the studio's informative and engaging website. The studio embraces transparency and aims to continuously update and expand its online content. A journal on the website provides visitors with insights and perspectives from the studio's creative team. The partnership with Monolit and the studio's unwavering commitment to artistic excellence set the stage for continued success in the years to come.
