Biography of Françoise Hardy
Françoise Hardy is a French singer, actress, and astrologer. She is a iconic figure in the fashion and music industry, especially in French-speaking countries.
Hardy was raised in a girls' boarding school, where she began writing her own songs. She studied political science and philology at the Sorbonne and also trained at the Conservatory.
She came to the attention of a record label when she responded to an advertisement in the newspaper "Franse-suar" for young female singers. In 1961, Vogue offered her a contract to record her debut single, which sold two million copies.
Following her musical success, Roger Vadim offered her a role in the film "A Castle in Sweden." In 1963, she represented Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "L'amour s'en va" and placed fifth. That same year, she received awards from the Charles Cros Academy and French television.
In addition to her native language, Hardy performed songs in English, Spanish, Italian, and German. She was a prominent model for fashion houses such as Chanel, Paco Rabanne, and Yves Saint Laurent, and was considered one of the main beauty icons of the 1960s.
After a successful role in the film "Grand Prix," she signed a contract with Warner Bros. In 1974, renowned astrologer Jean-Pierre Nicola offered her the opportunity to work with him, and she became an expert astrologer. She hosted astrology-themed radio shows on Radio Monte-Carlo for eight years.
In 1981, she married her long-time stage partner Jacques Dutronc. In 1988, she announced her retirement from singing, but returned to her career five years later, releasing the album "Le Danger" in 1996.
In 2006, she was awarded the Grand Medal of French Chanson by the French Academy. Since 2007, she has been working on her memoirs.
