Their unique sound and arrangements, as well as the memorable voice of Vladimir Zhdamirov and the honest and sincere lyrics by Oleg Simonov, were appreciated by fans of the genre. The songs of Butyrka were known for their authenticity, as they were based on real-life experiences. Oleg, unlike many other songwriters and performers, was intimately familiar with life behind bars.
