Beram Kayal: Israeli Footballer with Arab Roots
Early Life and CareerBeram Kayal, an Arab-Israeli footballer, is a central midfielder for English club Brighton & Hove Albion and the Israeli national team. Kayal began his career with Maccabi Haifa in Israel, initially as a forward where he scored prolifically for their youth teams. At the age of 16, he was promoted to Maccabi's youth squad and helped them win both the Israeli Premier League Youth Division and the Israeli Youth Cup.
Debut and Breakthrough with Maccabi Haifa
Kayal's first-team debut for Maccabi came in the 2005/06 season, and he went on to make one more appearance that year as Maccabi won their third consecutive league title. In the following season, he became a regular in the first team, playing 36 matches and winning both the Israeli Premier League and the Toto Cup.
Rise to Stardom
In 2007, Kayal was named captain of Maccabi Haifa's youth team and led them to victory in both the league and cup. His performances at the "Torneo di Viareggio" in Italy that year also earned him praise from local media.
Move to Celtic
Kayal signed a four-year contract with Scottish club Celtic in 2010. He made his debut in the Europa League against Utrecht, providing an assist and earning the "Man of the Match" award. He was named "Player of the Month" in January 2011 and scored his first goal for Celtic in April. He extended his contract with the club until 2015 in October of the same year.
International Career
Kayal has represented various Israeli youth teams and made his senior international debut in 2008. He scored his first goal for the national team in 2011 against Latvia in a Euro 2012 qualifier. To date, he has played 21 matches for Israel, scoring one goal.
