William Francis Nighy, affectionately known as Bill Nighy, was born on December 12, 1949, in Caterham, Surrey, England. Raised in an ordinary family, Nighy's mother worked in a psychiatric ward while his father was a mechanic. After graduating from the Guildford School of Acting, Nighy embarked on his acting journey in theater and television.

Stage and National Theatre

For several years, Nighy graced the stage of the Liverpool Playhouse before being invited to perform at the National Theatre. In March 1977, he joined the newly opened Cottesloe Theatre, where he made a significant impact.
