Björn Haneveer: Belgian Snooker Legend

Björn Haneveer is undoubtedly Belgium's greatest snooker player and one of the best in continental Europe. As a former Main Tour player, Haneveer now competes in the PIOS circuit, where he currently holds the top ranking after five tournaments.

Belgian Champion

Haneveer has won six Belgian national championships, most recently in 2007 with Patrick Delsemme. In 2000, he reached the final of the European Championships in Scotland.

European Success

Haneveer triumphed in the European Championships in Riga, Latvia, in 2001. He also claimed the title at the sixth World Games in Japan that same year. Haneveer successfully defended his gold medal at the seventh World Games in Germany in 2005. Notably, he achieved a break of 147 points at the 2003 European Championships and again at the Belgian Championships in 2007.

Main Tour Years

Haneveer enjoyed considerable success during his years on the Main Tour. He reached a career-high ranking of 53 in the 2003/04 season. His notable tournament performances included reaching the last 16 at the 2002 Regal Scottish Open and 2003 European Open.

Return to PIOS

Despite dropping out of the Main Tour for the 2008/09 season, Haneveer has excelled in the PIOS "lower division." He remains a contender for a return to the Top 96 in 2009.

Eurosport Commentator

Beyond his playing career, Haneveer also provides commentary for snooker matches on the Dutch version of Eurosport.
