Biography of Dominic Dale
Dominic Dale is a Welsh professional snooker player. He was born in Coventry, but later moved with his family to Piners, Wales. At the age of nineteen, he won the national championship among amateurs, and shortly after became a finalist in the amateur world championship, where he lost to Noppadon Noppachorn 9-11. After these successes, he was invited to the main tour, where Dominic began his professional career.
Early Success and Rise in Rankings
In 1997, Dominic achieved his first ranking title. He sensationally won the third most significant tournament, the Grand Prix. On his way to victory, he defeated snooker giants such as Steve Davis and Jimmy White. In the final, he overcame future world champion John Higgins with a score of 9-6. Two years later, Dale helped his Welsh team secure victory over Scotland in the Nations Cup. In the 1999-2000 season, he reached the semi-finals of the Thailand Masters and the quarter-finals of the World Championship.
Decline and Resurgence
However, Dominic did not achieve remarkable results for a long time and by 2006, he had dropped to 40th place in the world rankings. The only notable achievement during this period was reaching the final of the Benson & Hedges Masters. He experienced a resurgence at the Shanghai Masters in 2007. Once again, he managed to defeat some of the strongest players in the world. In the final, he faced his fellow player Ryan Day. Dominic struggled in the beginning and after the first session, he was trailing 2-6. However, his game transformed, winning eight consecutive frames. He emerged victorious and became the 24th player in snooker history to win more than one ranking tournament.

Dominic Dale's major achievements include winning the Grand Prix in 1997 and the Shanghai Masters in 2007. He was also part of the Welsh team that won the Nations Cup in 1999. In the 2000 season, he reached the quarter-finals of the World Championship. Additionally, he won the Malay Masters in 1995 and was a finalist in the Benson & Hedges Masters in 2004. He also reached the semi-finals of the Thailand Masters in 2000.
