Early Career and Debut
Björn Bergmann Sigurðarson, an Icelandic striker, began his professional career with Akraenes in Iceland's 2007 championship. Initially appearing as a substitute, Sigurðarson became a regular starter the following year. However, Akraenes was relegated, prompting Sigurðarson to join Norwegian club Lilleström on a three-year contract in January 2009.
Injury Setback and Contract Renewal
A season-ending injury limited Sigurðarson's debut season at Lilleström, where he managed just 12 appearances and scored a single goal. Despite the setback, he extended his contract with the club until 2014 in the fall of 2011.
Move to English Championship
In summer 2012, Sigurðarson signed a four-year contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers in England's Championship. After the club's relegation to League One, Sigurðarson found himself out of the starting lineup and was loaned out to Norwegian club Molde until the end of the year on January 31, 2014.
Further Loan Spells and Free Agency
Sigurðarson spent the second half of the 2014/15 season on loan at Danish club Copenhagen. He returned to Molde as a free agent in July 2016 and regained his starting role.
Russian Premiere League Arrival
On January 5, 2018, Sigurðarson joined Russian Premier League club Rostov on a 3.5-year deal.
International Career
Sigurðarson represented Iceland at the youth level, appearing in two matches at the 2011 European Championship and the qualifying tournament for the 2013 European Championship. He made his senior debut in 2011 and has since played regularly for his country.
