Early Life and Creative Beginnings

Blake Jenner was born on August 27, 1992, in Miami, Florida. He grew up with three older brothers, Mike, Derrick, and Richard. Jenner's father has English, German, and French-Canadian ancestry, while his mother is of Cuban descent.

From a young age, Jenner had a passion for the arts. He played the drums and guitar, wrote short stories and staged them as plays, took acting classes, and starred in school productions. He also appeared in commercials and participated in improvisation classes at the Impromedy comedy group.

Hollywood Breakthrough

After graduating high school, Jenner moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He continued his education through online courses while attending auditions and working odd jobs as a waiter, clothing store associate, and pet store employee. He also honed his improvisation skills as a member of The Groundlings troupe.

Jenner's breakthrough came in 2012 when he won The Glee Project, a reality competition that awarded the winner a role in the hit musical series "Glee." He played Ryder Lynn, a football player turned member of the New Directions choir. Jenner performed solos and ensemble songs throughout the show's fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons, earning a Teen Choice Award for his work.

Transition to Film

After leaving "Glee," Jenner focused primarily on film roles. In 2016, he starred in the comedy "Everybody Wants Some!!" about a college baseball team in Texas. The following year, he wrote, starred in, and co-produced the drama "Billy Boy," which received mixed reviews.

In 2019, Jenner played the lead role in the Netflix thriller series "What/If." He portrayed a former athlete turned ER doctor, with Jane Levy as his on-screen wife.

Personal Life

On the set of "Glee," Jenner met and fell in love with fellow cast member Melissa Benoist. The couple married in 2015, although insiders claim they secretly tied the knot shortly after their engagement two years prior.

Jenner appeared in two episodes of the superhero series "Supergirl," which Benoist starred in. They also co-starred in the drama "Billy Boy," which Jenner wrote. In late 2016, the couple announced their separation due to irreconcilable differences and finalized their divorce a year later.

Benoist later revealed that she had endured domestic violence during her marriage to Jenner, alleging that he manipulated her, pulled her hair, slapped her, and threw a cell phone at her, damaging her iris.

Jenner responded to the allegations a year later, confirming that he had indeed abused his wife and apologized to her. He also claimed that Benoist had been aggressive towards him, including jealous behavior, blackmail, and breaking his nose.

Current Projects

In 2021, Jenner landed the lead role in the action thriller "Paradise City." He played Ryan, a man searching for his father's killers and fending off threats from ruthless characters played by Bruce Willis and John Travolta. The film was released in 2022.

Jenner is currently involved in the upcoming musical comedy "Merrily We Roll Along." The film will follow the story of Franklin Shepard, a Broadway composer who leaves his friends and career to become a Hollywood producer. The plan is to film the movie every two years over a 20-year period to capture the characters' aging process. Jenner was cast in the lead role in 2019, and the first part of the film has already been completed.
