Biography of Bob Coffin

Bob Coffin is an American politician and businessman who has served as an independent candidate in the Nevada Senate, the upper house of the state legislature, representing the 3rd District of Clark County since 1987. Prior to this, from 1983 to 1985, Coffin was a member of the Nevada Assembly, the lower house of the state legislature.

Born on October 7, 1942 in Anaheim, California, Bob Coffin graduated from Bishop Gorman High School. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). During his time at UNLV, he became a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and served as the president of the UNLV Alumni Association in 1974.

Coffin has been a member of the United States Army Reserve since 1962. He is married to Mary Hausch and they have raised three children together - sons James and Walter, and daughter Anna Maria. In addition to his political career, Bob Coffin earns a living by selling antique books and working as an insurance broker.

Outside of his professional life, Coffin enjoys playing golf. In 1970, he became the state champion among amateur golfers, and from 1973 to 1974, he even served as the president of the Nevada Golf Association. He also has a passion for book collecting, does some writing himself, and is interested in amateur radio.

From 1987 to 2001, Bob Coffin served in the Nevada Senate and worked on various committees and commissions, including the Finance Committee, the Legislative Commission, the Information Technology Subcommittee, the Pension Committee, the Nevada Athletic Commission, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, the Federal Budget and Taxation Committee, and other organizations.
