In 1966, Orr joined the Boston Bruins, who had not won the Stanley Cup since 1941. His arrival transformed the team, leading to their victories in 1970 and 1972 and a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 1974. Orr's remarkable combination of defensive and offensive abilities revolutionized the game.

Throughout his career, Orr received numerous accolades. He won eight consecutive Norris Trophies as the NHL's top defenseman, three Hart Trophies as the league's MVP, and became the first defenseman to win the Art Ross Trophy for leading the NHL in scoring. In 1979, at the age of 31, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as the youngest player ever.
