Bolanle Ninalowo Badejo: A Titan in Cinematic History

The Actor Behind the Iconic Alien

Born in Nigeria, Bolanle Ninalowo Badejo was the second child of Erasmus Victor Badejo and Elizabeth Bamidale. As a Yoruba native, he stood out with his extraordinary physique, reaching heights between 208 cm and 218 cm.

An Artistic Journey

Badejo's path intertwined with art and travel. He pursued graphic design in London and explored the United States, spending three years in San Francisco. His exceptional height and slender frame drew attention in various settings, including a pub where he was spotted by Ridley Scott's agent, Peter Archer.

The Role of a Lifetime

Badejo was handpicked to embody one of cinema's most iconic creatures: the Alien in Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece. His presence within the suit created an unsettling illusion, concealing his human form and lending the extraterrestrial parasite an air of authenticity. To prepare, he mastered Tai Chi movements, studied the behavior of praying mantises, and rehearsed extensively on the sets of the "Nostromo" spacecraft.

Post-Alien Life

After the film's release, Badejo returned to Nigeria and ventured into sculpture, working alongside his renowned uncle. He opened his own art gallery and embraced family life, becoming a father of two. However, Badejo faced health challenges due to sickle cell anemia, which was diagnosed in his youth.

A Tragic Loss

In 1992, a cold turned into a severe complication, leading to Badejo's hospitalization in Lagos. On December 22nd, at the age of 39, he succumbed to the illness, leaving an enduring legacy as the unforgettable embodiment of the Alien.
