Niecy Nash: A Dedicated Actress and Community Leader
Early Life and CareerNiecy Nash (born Carol Denise Ensley) is an American actress who was born in California in 1970. Inspired by Lola Falana at the age of five, Nash pursued acting as her career path. She graduated from California State University with a degree in Theater Arts and embarked on her acting career in the 1990s.
Film and Television Roles
Nash's film debut came in 1995 with the comedy "Boys on the Side," starring Whoopi Goldberg. She went on to appear in Robert Altman's "Cookie's Fortune" (1999) and Gary Sinyor's "The Bachelor" (1999) alongside Chris O'Donnell and Renée Zellweger. While her roles may not have been significant, Nash's comedic talent and frequent appearances on television established her genre of choice.
Television Success
Nash has a vast filmography in television, with numerous roles in popular and highly-rated television shows. These include "ER," "Judging Amy," "Girlfriends," "Ugly Betty," "The Bernie Mac Show," and "My Name Is Earl."
Film Highlights
In 2003, Nash starred in John Whitesell's comedy "Malibu's Most Wanted." The following year, she appeared in Leslie Small's "Barbershop." In 2005, she had a minor role in Kevin Rodney Sullivan's "Guess Who." Nash's most notable film role came in 2007 in Ben Garant's parody "Reno 911!: Miami."
Community Involvement
Beyond her acting career, Nash is actively involved in community work. She has been a principal spokesperson for the M.A.V.I.S. (Mothers Against Violence in Schools) program, founded by her mother following the tragic death of Nash's brother in 1993.
Personal Life
Niecy Nash has been married to Don Nash, and they have three children. Remarkably, she pursued her ambitions, career, and even earned a college degree while being a wife and mother. However, Nash considers her work to be her life's primary focus. "Acting is all I ever wanted to do in my life," she has said. "I just felt like I never had a choice. I've never been passionate about anything else."
