Boris Reznik: A Journalist and Public Figure
Early Life and EducationBoris Lvovich Reznik was born on February 12, 1940, in Rzhev, Tver Oblast (formerly Kalinin Oblast). He pursued higher education and graduated from a prestigious higher party school.
Journalistic Career
Reznik began his journalistic career at various newspapers, including "Moskovsky Komsomolets," "Vechernyaya Moskva," and "Lesnaya Promyshlennost." At the age of 24, he became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU), driven by a sense of conscience and shared values.
Reporting from the Far East
In 1969, Reznik traveled to the Far East to cover events on Damansky Island. Impacted by the experience, he requested a transfer to Khabarovsk as a correspondent for "Lesnaya Promyshlennost." In 1981, he became the Far East correspondent for the national newspaper "Izvestiya," a position he holds to this day.
Recognition and Awards
Reznik's exceptional journalistic contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards from the Union of Journalists of the USSR and the Union of Journalists of Russia. He has received the "Zolotoy Gong" (Golden Gong) for his achievements in journalism.
Political Engagement
In December 2003, Reznik was elected as a deputy to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, serving for its fourth term. He continued to advocate for press freedom and media development.
Philanthropic Endeavors
Beyond his journalism and politics, Reznik is dedicated to philanthropy. For a decade, he has led the "Nadezhda" charitable foundation, which provides assistance to seriously ill children. Under his leadership, the foundation has raised and invested over 100 million rubles in pediatric healthcare in the region.
Personal Life
Boris Reznik is married to Elena Nikolaevna, a fellow journalist. They have two children: Andrei, an astrophysicist, and Ksenia, a student at Khabarovsk Pedagogical University.
