Dr. Boško Perošević: Serbian Politician and Industrialist
Early Life and EducationBoško Perošević was born in Odžaci, Serbia, and grew up in the nearby village of Ratkovo. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ratkovo and Odžaci, going on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Novi Sad. He also studied economics and earned a master's degree from the Technological Faculty in Novi Sad.
Perošević's academic pursuits extended beyond Serbia. As a student, he traveled to the Soviet Union and became fluent in Russian and English in addition to his native Serbian. He published several professional articles in specialized journals and patented numerous innovations as a designer of tools and devices.
Professional Career
After graduating, Perošević worked as an engineer in the Ivo Lola Ribar industry in Odžaci. In 1992, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Municipal Assembly of Odžaci, a position he held for a year.
Political Involvement
In 1993, Perošević became the Chairman of the Executive Council of Vojvodina. He held this position until his assassination in 2000. Perošević was a member of Slobodan Milošević's Socialist Party of Serbia and served as the President of its provincial committee from 1990 to 1995.
Publications and Research
Perošević authored a study titled "Kalupi za injekciono presovanje plastomera" (Injection Molds for Plastic Injection Molding) and co-authored the book "Promenama do uspešnog preduzeća" (Pathways to a Successful Business Enterprise) with three colleagues.
Assassination
On May 13, 2000, Perošević was assassinated while visiting a fair in Novi Sad. He was shot in the head by Milivoje Gutović, a fairground attendant from Perošević's hometown of Ratkovo. The motive for the murder remains unclear.
