Early Life and Education

Born as Lysette Lowe in Detroit, Bo$$ was the daughter of factory-worker father and a teacher mother. Raised in a religious household, she moved to West Los Angeles in 1989 with DJ Irene "Dee" Moore. Despite her gangsta-rap persona, Bo$$ had a privileged upbringing, attending ballet and piano classes, and graduating from a Catholic private school. She even studied economics at Oakland University.

Rise to Fame

Bo$$'s career took off after her collaboration with DJ Quik on the track "Born Gangsta." Russell Simmons signed her to Def Jam West, leading to the release of her debut album, "Born Gangstaz," in 1993. The singles "Deeper" and "Recipe of a Hoe" topped the Hot Rap Singles chart, establishing her as a rising star in the gangsta-rap genre.

Career Setback

In 1994, Bo$$'s carefully crafted image faced scrutiny when a Wall Street Journal interview revealed her middle-class upbringing. The revelation damaged her credibility as an authentic gangsta rapper, leading to a decline in her popularity.

Later Years

Bo$$ relocated to Dallas, Texas, in the mid-1990s and became a radio DJ. She collaborated with Krayzie Bone on his 2001 album "Thug On Da Line" and released a mixtape titled "The Six Million Dollar Mixtape" in 2004.

Health Issues and Death

In 2011, Bo$$ announced that she needed a kidney transplant due to a kidney disease. She reached out to social media for potential donors but was unable to find a match. Bo$$ passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 52. The cause of death was not disclosed, although she had suffered a heart attack in 2017.
