Early Life and EducationBradley Oscar, a renowned American musical theatre actor, was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston University College of Fine Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1986 and received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2006.
Broadway Debut and Acclaim
Oscar made his Broadway debut in 1990 in the musical "Aspects of Love as a Swing." His subsequent Broadway roles included performances in "Jekyll & Hyde" and "The Producers." His portrayal of Franz Liebkind in "The Producers" earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical in 2001. Oscar later replaced Nathan Lane as the lead role of Max Bialystock in the same production.
Regional and Vegas Productions
In addition to his Broadway appearances, Oscar has performed in numerous regional and Las Vegas productions. Notable roles include Mr. Applegate in "Damn Yankees" at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., and the Emcee in "Cabaret" at the same venue. He also starred as Barnum in "Barnum" at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Florida. In 2007, Oscar played Max Bialystock in the Las Vegas production of "The Producers" at the Paris Hotel and Casino.
Additional Collaborations and Honors
Oscar has performed several drag roles, including Lady Enid in "The Mystery of Irma Vep." He also collaborated with his sister, Victoria Oscar, to portray Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus in the National Christmas Tree Lighting event.
Later Broadway Roles
In 2011, Oscar assumed the role of Uncle Fester in "The Addams Family" on Broadway. He also starred as Thomas Nostradamus in "Something Rotten!" from 2015 to 2017, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical in 2015.
Recent Work and Personal Life
Oscar played Beadle Bamford in an Off-Broadway production of "Sweeney Todd" at the Barrow Street Theater. He married actor Diego Prieto in 2012, and they met while performing in "Damn Yankees" at the Arena Stage.
