Early Life and Education

Brady Allred, an American choral and orchestral conductor, was born and raised in Utah. His passion for music led him to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Brigham Young University and a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting at the Eastman School of Music. In 1990, he received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Conducting.

Early Career and Artistic Leadership

Allred began his conducting journey at Duquesne University as the Director of Choral Activities and as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh (1993-2004). He simultaneously served as the Music Director and Conductor of the Butler Symphony Orchestra.

University of Utah Tenure (2003-2010)

From 2003 to 2010, Allred held the position of Director of Choral Activities at the University of Utah, leading the award-winning University of Utah Singers and A Cappella Choir. Under his direction, these choirs achieved international acclaim, earning honors such as the Grand Prize at the Florilège Vocal de Tours International Choral Competition in France, first prizes at the Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition in Germany, and the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in 2006.

Salt Lake Choral Artists (2004-Present)

Since 2004, Allred has served as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Salt Lake Choral Artists, a renowned regional choral organization consisting of five choirs with over 350 singers. The organization has been lauded for its innovative performances, commissioning new works, and choral education initiatives through its Summer Choral Institute.

Guest Conducting and International Tours

Allred has conducted as a guest for organizations such as the Schumann Chamber Orchestra in Italy, Wroclaw Philharmonic in Poland, and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Russian Ministry of Defense. He has also led the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and performed with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers and Oregon Bach Festival Chorus. Allred's global impact extends to nine international tours in Europe and one in Canada, where his ensembles have been featured in prestigious venues such as Avery Fisher Hall and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Affiliations and Honors

Allred has served as a clinician, adjudicator, and member of various boards and committees within the choral community. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, and the Utah Arts Council. His artistic and educational achievements have earned him numerous honors and awards.

Personal Life

Brady Allred and his wife, soprano Carol Ann Allred, have been involved in the United States Information Agency's "Artistic Ambassadors" program. They reside in Salt Lake City, Utah, with their four daughters.
