Early Life and Career in Serbia

Branislav Ivanović was born on 22 February 1984, in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia. Although he has claimed to never have played for FK Remont, he began his professional career with FK Srem in July 2002. After three years in the Serbian SuperLiga, he moved to OFK Beograd in 2003.

Breakthrough at Lokomotiv Moscow

In February 2006, Ivanović signed a four-year contract with Lokomotiv Moscow. His performances earned him a place among the top 33 players in the 2007 Russian Premier League, and helped Lokomotiv win the Russian Cup that year.

Chelsea Transfer and Premier League Success

On 15 January 2008, Chelsea confirmed an agreement to sign Ivanović for £9 million. Despite the initial struggles to break into the starting lineup, he eventually established himself as a key player under Luiz Felipe Scolari.
