Early Life and EducationBrenda Lee Strong, an American actress known for her role as Mary Alice Young on the hit TV show "Desperate Housewives," was born on March 25, 1960, in Brightwood, Oregon. She grew up nearby in the city of Portland. She completed high school at Sandy Union in 1978 and went on to continue her education in Arizona. She earned a Bachelor of Music and Musical Theatre degree from the University of Arizona. In 1980, she was crowned "Miss Arizona."
Early Career
After graduating from university, Strong's first major project was a music video for Billy Crystal's song "You Look Marvelous" in 1984. She then made her television debut in 1985 with brief appearances in the series "St. Elsewhere," "MacGyver," and "Cheers." Strong gained more significant roles in shows such as "Matlock," "Murphy Brown," "Herman's Head," "Star Trek: The Next Generation," and "Blossom." She also had a recurring role in the cult drama "Twin Peaks." In the mid-1990s, Strong appeared in films such as "ER," "Picket Fences," "Silk Stalkings," and "Dawson's Creek."
