Early Life and Education

Brett Newlin, an American rower, was born on March 24, 1982, and currently resides in Princeton, New Jersey. In his younger years, he resided in Riverton, Wyoming, a small town where his family relocated when he was eight.

College and Sports Career

Newlin's passion for athletics began with cross-country running and swimming in high school. However, it was in college that he first explored rowing. He attended the University of Michigan on an athletic scholarship and joined the rowing team. Later, he transferred to the University of Washington to further pursue rowing.

In 2005, Newlin graduated with a degree in computer engineering. He then relocated to Princeton to train with the United States National Rowing Team. He has represented the US on four occasions at various rowing competitions.
