Early Life and Education
Bryan Atwood was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was drawn to the arts from a young age. He pursued studies in Art and Architecture at Southern Illinois University, before continuing his education at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, specializing in Fashion Design.
Modeling and Versace
After graduating, Atwood moved to Europe to pursue a career in modeling, representing leading brands. In 1996, he was invited to Milan to work on Gianni Versace's women's accessories line.
Founding Bryan Atwood
In 2001, Atwood established his own eponymous label, Bryan Atwood. His debut collection of women's footwear received critical acclaim, and he quickly gained a loyal following. In 2003, he was named the U.S. Accessories Designer of the Year by Accessory Council.
